St Lucia tourism will continue services with the return of of TUI Airways to St Lucia. The SLTA recently issued a regulation mentioning that the UK carrier TUI Airways will initiate the weekly winter direct flight from London Gatwick to Hewanorra International Airport on November 3, 2020.
Saint Lucia is recently identified as a safe destination owing to its relatively low COVID cases in past few weeks. Besides the four regular ones from British Airways, the additional flights departure on Tuesday further creates a positive environment and hints at a sudden surge in UK flights movement. This happened soon after COVID cases reduced in the region.
This region has been host to over 8500 visitors since it opened for tourists after the travel pause in June. And with the growth in the number of visitors, UK airlines are manipulating airfares to maintain a competitive business environment. TUI flights are available from £400pp in November.
Minister of Tourism Honourable Dominic Fedee in this situation stated that the tourism authorities are thrilled to reopen after a pause and are happy to welcome all guests after a travel pause. They are happy to be reconnected with the colleagues at TUI in winter season. And the weekly flight to Saint Lucia will open visitor’s movement and create a flexible travel environment amidst challenging times. Such a situation is expected to lead to a positive turn in spite of the virus threat.
Entry requirements for UK arrivals are:
- Need to complete the online pre-arrival registration form
- Rapid test is not acceptable on arrival
- Negative COVID-19 PCR test report should be dated prior to seven days of travel
- Residents as well as nations should accept COVID-19 norms and follow quarantine for 14 days on arrival at a government facility
After screening at the airport, only those approved international visitors will enjoy staying, however they will be expected to follow all on-island protocols.
