Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has asked officials to upgrade important tourist destinations in line with global standards, since the state is depending on tourism to revive its economy.
The CM has asked for detailed expansion proposals for Badami, Kemmannugundi, Jog Falls, Gaganachukki and Barachukki Falls and Mullayanagiri Hills, among other places, within a month.
Theses major tourist spots have huge potential to attract foreign tourists once international tourism restarts. The Chief Minister has the tourism department to focus on big projects and not the small ones, so that visitors can experience the changes. The Karnataka state government has already approved Rs. 120-crore plan for developing tourist infrastructure at Jog Falls.
