Cikini walking tour is set to create regional tourism

Jakarta’s Tourism and Creative Economy Office on Thursday has activated the Cikini Walking Tour as a part of the initiations aimed on regional-based tourism development.

The walking tour was partnership with PT Jakarta Tourisindo, a Jakarta-owned firm which is also known as the Jakarta Experience Board (JXB), by inviting some associations of tour agents.

Hari Wibowo, the Office’s Head of Marketing and Attraction, explained that the activation was still under trial. Wibowo also observed that the Jakarta Tourism Office is all set to open the Cikini Walking Tour to the public anytime soon.

“We also consider the policy from the central (government) and how to handle the period of Christmas and New Year. However, clearly, Jakarta is ready to wake up and move forward,” Wibowo told reporters here on Thursday.

The office head remarked that the public demand has inspired Cikini Walking Tour was inspired to travel around Cikini, Central Jakarta, as the area has sundry attractive historic infrastructure and destinations that would successfully attarct local and foreign tourists.

The Cikini Walking Tour will take its participants to discover the Gedung Joang ’45, Ismail Marzuki Park, Bakoel Koffie, Tjanang Ice Cream, Tan Ek Tjoan bakery, Ahmad Soebardjo (the first Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister) House, and famous painter Raden Saleh’s Mansion.
