CBRE hires hotel vet in anticipation of tourism rebound

Ananth Ramchandran joins CBRE as head of advisory & strategic transactions, hotel & hospitality, Asia, according to a statement.

Based in Singapore, Ramchandran is responsible for leading CBRE’s hotel advisory business and driving the strategic hotel and hospitality transaction business across portfolio sales, mergers and acquisitions, partnerships and capital transactional services for both debt and equity.

Ramchandran joins from U.K.-based InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG Hotels & Resorts) where he a vice president for capital investments & transactions as well as global head of branded residential.

He drove the firm’s Asia Pacific investment and asset management business and played a leading role in the acquisition of major hotel brands like the Regent and Six Senses.

Asia Tourism Rebound

According to CBRE’s statement, APAC hotel investment increased 46 percent year-on-year in 2021, driven by REITs, private offices and private equity capital, in anticipation of resumed tourist demand with expectations of additional investments from strengthened investor confidence.

Ramchandran brings leadership and deep experience when Asia Pacific’s hotel sector is at an inflection point, with many markets reopening borders and relaxing travel restrictions.
