Thailand aims to attract 3000 Indian tourists per day

The tourism authorities in Thailand are kind of announcing a new goal every single day. While the TAT has the objective of attracting Saudi and Australian tourists in Phuket, last week it has also announced a goal for Thailand as a whole, which are 3,000 Indian tourists per day.

The TAT is aiming to realize this goal with the help of various promotional campaigns and special travel inducements. The TAT has said that wedding tourism has become immensely sought after for Indian visiting Thailand. It aims to hold around 400 wedding tourism events this year. Around 300 Indian wedding events have been booked already, mostly in Phuket, for the entire year.

ThanakornWangboonkongchana, theGovernment Spokesman said that Indian travelers have the prospective of fetching around 22.5 billion baht in profits for Thailand. Indians comprise the largest tourist group forThailand this year, with 100,884 Indian arrivals in the country during the period between January 1 and May 24.

In Phuket, among the countries with maximum visitors visiting Thailand are India, Australia, the UK,Russia,Singapore,Malaysia, Germany, the US, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Last month, the TAT announced that it is aiming to target wealthy tourist groups. It is part of its marketing plan to resurrect Thailand’s devastated tourism economy with the easing of travel restrictions gradually. The TAT said that they are focusing on the “rich groups”.
