Victoria’s finest young chefs will come together for a 30 Under 30 Gala Dinner showcasing the depth of talent that makes Melbourne Australia’s culinary capital.

Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula today announced the 30 Under 30 Gala Dinner would take place at the Plaza Ballroom on Thursday, 28 July with a menu of 30 dishes prepared by 30 talented chefs under 30 years of age.

The event – part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival’s 30th anniversary celebrations – will showcase the up-and-coming talent shaping the future of Victoria’s hospitality industry. It will feature chefs from renowned restaurants such as Attica, Vue de Monde, Gimlet, Igni, Aru, Etta, Provenance and many more.

The event aims to promote Melbourne as a culinary destination and celebrate our city’s creativity while providing a platform for young chefs to showcase their skills.

Festivities will continue into August with a series of more intimate events with the 30 chefs cooking together in small groups at Cutler & Co, Matilda 159 Domain, Stokehouse, Society and Embla.

The 30th anniversary celebrations follow on from the successful festival in March, which attracted more than 54,000 people to 56 events.

Later in the year, the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival will head to regional Victoria to continue the celebrations and spread the economic benefits across the state.

The Melbourne Food and Wine Festival has been a mainstay of our major events calendar for three decades, strengthening Victoria’s reputation as a premier food and wine destination.
