Mulanthuruthy block panchayat thinking about a tourism circuit

Activities concerning tourism in Kochi always circle around few heritage constructions in Fort Kochi and Mattancherry along withshopping malls in the city. The tourism prospective of landscapes, peacefulwater features and traditional buildings, which are only a few kilometers away from the commotion of Kochi, remain unexploited in Ernakulam.

Hence, the Mulanthuruthy block panchayat is thinking about a tourism circuit for exploiting the tourism prospective of these areas linking six panchayatsas part of the Destination Challenge mission of the Kerala tourism department.
A course of action regarding that will be communicated at aninitialgatheringtoday, where tourism officials, experts from the six panchayatsand stakeholders would be present.

The tourism circuit will uniteMulanthuruthy, Maneed,Chottanikkara, Amballoor, Udayamperoorand Edakattuvayalpanchayats, where there are rivers, extensive paddy fields, very old religious constructions and traditionalmilestones.

The finalgoal of the block panchayat officials is to propel tourism promotion in these areas and create more employment options for the local folks.

At the moment, tourism in the district is only limited to the area surrounding West Kochi and Kochi city. There are a lot ofsites in the neighboring areas which can provide anunforgettable experience to the tourists far removed from the hectic city life.Tourism prospective of Chottanikkara Temple, the churches and the “ThottaraPuncha”, which is the biggestexpanse of paddy field spread over Amballur and Edakattuvayalpanchayats and other areas need to be explored.
