Avoya Travel, one of the travel industry’s most innovative brands, was honored as a finalist for the 2021 Torch Award for Ethics from the Better Business Bureau (BBB). The prestigious honor takes into consideration the ethical business practices of a company as well as the character of its leadership and the values instilled in the company’s culture. The BBB Torch Awards examine several facets of a business including its leadership, culture, relationships with customers, and involvement within the community, focusing specifically on the ways the company and leadership empower its employees in shaping and perpetuating the company’s values and ethical practices.
Avoya is well-known in the travel industry as a company that was built on the pillars of integrity and professionalism. From each Independent Agency accepted into the Network to each new employee hired, Avoya does its best to ensure the people behind the Avoya name demonstrate commitment to high character and a passion for the quality of their work.
With its vacation platform model, Avoya serves three different customer types: the Independent Agencies in the Avoya Network that receive Avoya’s services through software, lead generation, and business support; travelers who purchase vacations through its Network of Independent Agencies and receive world-class service and value; and its supplier partners that receive technology and marketing services to increase their brand awareness and market share.
Avoya’s staff and the Avoya Network continued to provide elevated customer service and customer experiences throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Avoya consistently had minimal hold times (mere minutes) and travelers were able to contact the Independent Agency that had booked and serviced their vacations or were seamlessly re-directed to a different Independent Agency if theirs was unavailable. The Avoya Network continuously acted as an advocate on behalf of Avoya’s mutual clients, contacting travel suppliers directly, pursuing refunds and Future Travel Credits, assisting with insurance claims, and more, all at no cost to the customer thanks to Avoya’s ‘No Avoya Fees’ promise.
Avoya continues to have the highest support staff to Independent Agency ratio in the travel distribution channel. Avoya supported Network independent members through several initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic including temporarily waiving monthly fees and renewal fees, offering complimentary access to expert legal and accounting assistance through the Avoya CARES program, maintaining weekly payment of commissions, and continuing to provide access to the Avoya-exclusive Instant Commission™ program. Avoya empowered the Avoya Network to continue to deliver a first-class customer experience throughout the pandemic while providing elevated levels of support; meanwhile support survey Net Promoter Scores from Independent Agencies reached an all-time high for Avoya support staff.
“It is a true honor to be recognized by the Better Business Bureau as a company and team of leaders that hold the utmost regard for ethical business practices, strong morals, and a high level of character,” said Jeff Anderson, Co-President of Avoya Travel. “At Avoya, we strive to deliver exceptional customer experiences by blending new technology with the family business qualities that started in 1964 with our founders, Pal and Pat Anderson. Now in 2021, we are proud to carry on their legacy of personal service with a modern twist and are thrilled to be acknowledged by the BBB for being a top ethical business.”
Avoya was selected as a finalist for the BBB Torch Awards in the large business category out of 90 total nominations across all business categories for businesses in South Florida and the Caribbean.
