The Ministry of Tourism under its ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ initiatives arranged a webinar on December 11th at the ‘Jyotirlingam Temples of Maharashtra’ with an aim to perk up tourism. The webinar was presented by Umesh Namdev Jadhav, a regional level guide.
As the state continues to draw a huge number of visitors for its well-known and religious places, the webinar holds tremendous importance for the tourism sector. In the meantime, Maharshtra’s famous Jyotirlingas include Trimbakeshwar, Bhimashankar, Parali Vaijnath, Grishneswar, and Aundha Nagnath. In India, they’ve been respected since time immemorial and shrines Lord Shiva in the form of a Jyotirlingam and are among the 12 Jyotirlingas across India.
As the 12 Jyotirlingas, the southernmost are in Rameswaram while the northernmost is at Kedarnath.
Particularly, the ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ webinars have been presented together with the National e-Governance Department of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
In terms of history and tradition, the four well-known temples include Trimbakeshwar, Bhimashankar, Grishneswar, Aundha Nagnath, and, Parali Vaijnath.
As Trimbakeshwar temple is in the Southwest of Nashik, it is the place where Kumbh Mela is organized every year. In the temple, the Shivaling is situated on the floor with a deep depression and water constantly oozes out from the top of it. In the same way, the Bhimashankar temple is located in the Sahyadri mountain ranges in Pune, Maharashtra and is also India’s one of the well-known pilgrim centres. The temple is also the source of the river Bhima.
