I’ve flown 22 million miles – here’s what I say to crew to get better service on flights

A MAN who has flown a whopping 22 million miles in his life has revealed how he gets better service on a flight – without having to pay for it.

Tom Stuker, 67, has been travelling since 1983 with United Airlines after signing up for their rewards programme.

Pre-pandemic, he said he would spend around 250 days every year on a plane – and has shared how a simple phrase makes all the difference when travelling.

Tom previously told Time how one phrase on a flight could make all the difference: “When I get on the plane the first thing I say is, ‘How are you doing? Glad to be on this flight.'”

Being polite is important as he feels that passengers forget to say “please” and “thank you” more often than not when flying.

By greeting the cabin crew, it can make the flight much more enjoyable for both crew and passengers.

He even suggests a little white lie, saying: “I think I’ve flown with you before and if that was you, I don’t think I had time to say thank you, you were great.”

This can “set the tone” for the rest of the flight and forge a better relationship.

Tom also advised travellers to remember they were sharing the plane with other people, and to be courteous on board.

He said: “You don’t need to be on a Skype call 20 minutes before the flight takes off and bother everybody with those loud noises.”

Tom advises that by following these rules, it can make a flight much easier.

A flight attendant has revealed their own secret phrases – which include how to secretly reveal which passengers they fancy.

But a former pilot said there is a phrase they use if they are expecting a rough flight.

Here is a clever way to get some extra freebies from crew during a flight.
